Simple Olive Branch Sympathy Card

Watch the video to see the steps to make this card. I just love the way these olive branches stamp, lots of variation in color.

The Olive Branch Stamp Set has the large and small olive branches and some great sentiments. I think the thank you sentiment is perfect for an “olive branch”.

The Bottled Happiness is a great stamp set and you can use the bottle for a vase, wine bottle, message in a bottle or olive oil bottle!

  • Stamp bottle with Crumb Cake Ink, stamping the outline direct and then the filler but stamp off first to get a lighter shade.

I love that you can either stamp a lighthouse or die cut the pieces and build one. So versatile! You can save 10% when you bundle these products together.

Sketch Saturday - Cottage Rose

I made an elegant black and white card for this week’s sketch challenge. It was simple to make once I figured out the measurements. I always use scrap paper to play with sizes and placement.

The sketch is from the weekly Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I love doing their sketches. You should play along! They select the top 3 each week and it’s always fun to see what other people create and which are selected for the top 3.

The Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper is gorgeous. The floral patterns are delicate and pretty and the other side has fun, basic patterns.

Tips & Instructions

  • Basic Black Card Base - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4

  • Basic White Cardstock - 5 1/4 x 4

  • Basic Black Cardstock:

    • Large - 4 3/8 x 2 3/8

Pretty Potted Geranium Card

I love geraniums! I always planted them in clay pots and had them lining my porch steps when I lived in NY. My favorite are the red ones.

I got the idea for this card from the sample in the catalog. I changed it up a bit but love the basic layout.

The Potted Geraniums Stamp Set has such beautiful images and sentiments. You can create pretty flowers and leaves in two shades; there are outline and filler stamps that work together and it’s so easy to do because they are photopolymer.

I used Real Red and Mossy Meadow and stamping off first with the filler stamp to get the lighter shade. The dies cut out the stamped images and there’s a great label die.

You can save 10% when you purchase the stamp set and dies as a bundle. The dies are compatible Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.

Tips & Instructions

  • Pool Party Card Base - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4

  • Basic White Cardstock - 5 x 3 3/4, lightly blend Pool Party Ink using a Blending Brush. Using a Pool Party Stampin’ Write Marker flick some ink around the layer. Adhere to card base.

  • Basic White Cardstock - 5 x 3/4, cut using the Split Card Textures Dies. Snip to cut it away from the solid half of the layer and cut it down a little bit and adhere over blended layer.

  • On Basic White Cardstock:

    • Stamp pot with Soft Suede Ink (stamping off first), soil with Soft Suede Ink, stake with Soft Suede Ink and sentiment with Real Red Ink.

    • Stamp 2 sets flowers with Real Red Ink, stamping the outline direct and then the filler after stamping off first.

    • Stamp leaves with Mossy Meadow Ink, stamping the outline direct and then the filler after stamping off first.

    • Cut images with the coordinating Geranium Dies.

  • Adhere pieces to pot and then to the card.

  • Add some Brushed Brass Butterflies.

The Split Card Textures Dies are so cool. It cuts out a pattern on half a card layer. I just snipped the edges to separate it to adhere it to the white layer.

On the inside layer stamp sentiment with Real Red Ink. Stamp the flower and leaves the same way you stamped them on the front.

Beautiful Bottled Happiness Birthday Card

Isn’t this card pretty? I made it using the Bottled Happiness Bundle. The flowers are two-step stamping and are photopolymer so easy to line up. The bottle was punched using the Vintage Bottle Punch.

The images in the stamp set are beautiful and the sentiments are fun for wine bottles, flowers vases or message in a bottle.

You can purchase the Bottled Happiness product separately or save 10% when purchasing as a bundle.

Tips & Instructions

  • Evening Evergreen Card Base - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4

  • Soft Succulent Cardstock - 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, cut using the Fabulous Frames Dies.

  • Basic White Cardstock - 4 3/8 x 3 1/8

  • Stamp flowers on white layer, towards the top with Orchid Oasis Ink. Stamp the leaves with Evening Evergreen Ink, lining up the flower centers to help with positioning.

  • On a scrap of Basic White, stamp bottle with Soft Succulent Ink, stamping off first to get a lighter shade. Stamp the branch with Evening Evergreen on the bottle. (Tip, don’t ink the bottom part of the stem so it fits in the bottle.)

  • Adhere bottle to white layer beneath the flowers. Adhere layer to card base and then adhere frame around the layer.

  • Tie bow with Orchid Oasis Woven Metallic Ribbon and adhere to bottle with Glue Dot.

  • Add the smallest Pearl Basic Jewels to flower centers.

On the inside stamp sentiment with Evening Evergreen Ink. I used the sentiment from the Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set. I plan to give this as a birthday card.

Sketch Saturday - Botanical Layers

Here’s the card I made for this week’s sketch challenge. It’s simple but pretty!

The sketch is from the weekly Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. It looks like it should be a slim line card but I wanted to make it an A2 (5 1/2 x 4 1/4) sized card.

The images in the Botanical Layers Stamp set are so simple but stamp so beautifully. These are great sentiments to have on hand and I love the mix of script and plain lettering in the fonts.

Adorable Songbird Cards Using In Color Glimmer Paper

I think these songbirds are so darn cute! I used the Sweet Songbird Bundle and cut them from the new In Color Glimmer Paper. Which do you like better, Sweet Sorbet or Tahitian Tide?

In my video I’ll tell you all about these products and demonstrate how to make the cards. Each is a little different but it’s basically the same layout for both. If you stay until the end, you’ll hear about a great promotion Stampin’ Up! has during the month of May, 2022.

The sentiments in the Sweet Songbirds Stamp Set are so cute and I love those little birds. The coordinating Songbird Builder Punch will punch out the larger bird along with the belly, wing and beak.

Tips & Instructions

  • Thick Basic White Card Base - 4 1/4 x 11, score at 5 1/2 (top folding)

  • 2022-2024 In Color Designer Series Paper - 5 x 3 3/4, adhere to card base.

  • Basic White Cardstock - 4 1/4 x 2 3/4

  • Punch bird from dark end of a piece of Sweet Sorbet Glimmer Paper, punch belly from light end and punch beak from a scrap of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock.

  • Stamp eyes using Stazon Ink. I laid out the pieces to determine placement. Assemble bird using Liquid Glue.

  • Stamp sentiment at the bottom of the white layer with Black Ink.

  • Stamp branch on white layer with Soft Suede Ink. Stamp leaves with Parakeet Party Ink and stamp some flowers with Sweet Sorbet Ink. Stamp the bird’s feet with Pumpkin Pie Ink.

  • Stamp notes with Black Ink.

  • Adhere layer to the card.

On the inside layer stamp the smaller bird with Sweet Sorbet Ink. I used my Stamparatus to stamp multiple times to get good coverage. Stamp beak and feet with Pumpkin Pie Ink and stamp notes with black ink.

This card is basically the same layout only I used Tahitian Tide Glimmer Paper and Designer Series Paper. I stamped the eyes that are closed.

I added a nest instead of the feet to this card. Stamp the nest with Soft Suede Ink on a scrap of Crumb Cake Cardstock and fussy cut. Adhere using Dimensionals.

I didn’t add flowers or notes to this card. You can if you want to.

Follow the same steps for this inside layer but add a sentiment with black in.

Tea Boutique Cards

I made these beautiful cards using products from the Tea Boutique Suite of products from the new Annual Catalog. Have you seen the new catalog? If not, click on the catalog picture on the right and you can view an online copy.

Watch the replay to see all the products in the suite. I am loving these products! I’ll show you how I used the new Fabulous Frames Die to create a delicate frame for the teacup. The teacup and flowers were cut from the new In Color Glimmer Paper.

The Tea Boutique Cards & Envelopes is an amazing deal. You get 20 card bases and 20 envelopes for just $10(US). These are full size A2 (5 1/2 x 4 1/4) envelopes and are decorated both front and back.

Tips & Instructions

  • Fold and burnish one of the Tea Boutique Card Bases.

  • Basic White Cardstock - Cut Fabulous Frame and adhere to card front.

  • Cut teacup from a piece of the Orchid Oasis (light) Glimmer Paper. I used the Orchid Oasis light paper for this card. Add Dimensionals to the back and attach a small piece of white Baker’s Twine. Adhere to the card.

  • Stamp greenery with Parakeet Party Ink on a scrap of Basic White Cardstock and cut with coordinating die. Adhere behind the teacup.

  • Cut some small flowers from the Glimmer Paper and adhere the leaves. Add a Pearl to the center of the 2 larger flowers.

  • On a scrap of white cardstock stamp the tag outline with Black Memento Ink. Stamp the sentiment with Starry Sky Ink. Adhere to the teacup over the piece of Baker’s Twine.

Look how pretty the card is with the envelope!

Add a Basic White inside layer (5 1/4 x 4). Cut a teacup from a piece of Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper. I cut it from behind so I the handle would be on the left side. Cut some hearts from the Sweet Sorbet Glimmer Paper. Adhere teacup and hearts to inside layer.

This card was made using the same instructions but with the green striped card base. The teacup and flowers were cut from the Sweet Sorbet (dark end) of the Glimmer Paper. The sentiment was stamped with Sweet Sorbet Ink.

I love these envelopes. The flap matched perfectly with the card front.

Isn’t this a great sentiment? I stamped it with Sweet Sorbet Ink. The teacup was cut from a piece of the Glimmer Paper. I cut it from the back to get the handle on the other side. I had to run it through my machine a couple of times to get it cut through because the glimmer paper is thick.

4 Easy Background Layers using Dahlia Days

I made these 4 cards pretty quickly using the Dahlia Days Stamp Set to create a beautiful background layer. They were easy to make and are bright and cheerful.

Watch the video to see how I stamped the background on a blank piece of 8 1/2 x 11 Basic White Cardstock, cut it down to 4 layers and then embossed 3 of them.

Basic Measurements & Tips

  • Card Bases - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 unless otherwise noted.

  • Basic White Cardstock - 8 1/2 x 11

  • Stamp flower and leaf images randomly on the cardstock. I used the Dahlia Days Stamp Set. Start with the largest image and then fill in with the smaller ones. I used the following colors:

    • Flowers - Sweet Sorbet, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo

    • Leaves - Parakeet Party, Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent.

  • Cut 4 pieces each at 5 1/4 x 4.

  • Emboss the layers if you want.

  • Cut sentiment label from Basic White Cardstock using the Stylish Shapes Dies.

  • Sentiments are from the Dahlia Days and Peaceful Moments Stamp Set.

The first card uses Parakeet Party for the card base and the ink for the sentiment. I embossed the layer using the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder. Add the new Parakeet Party Metallic Woven Ribbon and an Iridescent Rhinestone.

On the inside stamp the dahlia with Sweet Sorbet Ink and the sentiment and leaves with Parakeet Party Ink

This card is a top folding card which means it was cut at 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2. The card base and ink are Evening Evergreen. The layer was embossed using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. I added a new In Color Opal Round.

I didn’t put a sentiment on the inside layer. Stamp the dahlia with Sweet Sorbet Ink and the greenery with Evening Evergreen Ink.

This card is made using Sweet Sorbet for the card base and the sentiment. I added an Iridescent Rhinestone and a bow tied with a piece of Sweet Sorbet Metallic Woven Ribbon.

Stamp the sentiment and dahlia with Sweet Sorbet Ink on the inside layer. Add Parakeet Party leaves.

The last card is another with Sweet Sorbet for the card base, sentiment background layer and sentiment ink. It was embossed using the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder. I colored 3 Iridescent Rhinestones using a Dark Sweet Sorbet Stampin’ Blends Marker.

In my video I’ll show you all the products in this suite and will make one of the cards. You can find the measurements below.

The first card is a thank you card and uses Night Of Navy for the card base and sentiment. I stamped the fern image with Gray Granite but stamped off twice on scrap paper before stamping on the circle.

Measurements:

This card uses Pacific Point for the card base as well as the sentiment. I stamped the splatter image twice on scrap and then stamped around the image.

This card has a Starry Sky Card Base and sentiment. I stamped the fern with Gray Granite Ink, stamping off twice on scrap paper before stamping on the circle.

These products will be available starting May 3, 2022 when the new Annual Catalog launches.

The sketch is from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I love when they have a slim line card as their sketch.

In my video I’ll introduce you to the new colors: Parakeet Party, Starry Sky, Tahitian Tide, Sweet Sorbet and Orchid Oasis. Watch to see how to make these cards and find out about my In Color Club where you can purchase the products for these new colors over a period of 5 months.

I used the Good Feelings Stamp Set for all these cards. It has such big, bold sentiments. The layers were all cut using the Scalloped Contours Dies. This first card uses the Orchid Oasis color.

I colored the stamp with all 5 of the new colors using the Stampin’ Write Markers to get this rainbow look. The background layer and ribbon are Starry Sky.

This card was done using Tahitian Tide. It’s a very pretty color.

The polka dot pattern on the Designer Series Paper is so fun. This card was made with Parakeet Party.

The last card was done using Sweet Sorbet. I love this floral pattern on the Designer Series Paper.

Sweet I miss your face Card

I just received this Hello Beautiful Bundle as a Prize Patrol for participating in a team challenge. I love getting free products! The hexagon pieces were cut from the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper using the dies from this bundle.

The stamp set includes a variety of abstract images that are designed to be stamped in groups, collaged, or repeated to make patterns and designs. The basic shapes included in the Beautiful Shapes Dies can be used to cut out circles, hexagons, parallelograms, and triangles images.

You can save 10% by bundling the stamp set and dies together. They will not be bundled in the new catalog.

Tips & Instructions

  • Garden Green Card Base - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4

  • Heart & Home Designer Series Paper Layer - 5 1/4 x 4, wrap piece of Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon around layer and adhere in the back and adhere to card base.

  • Cut piece of green patterned paper using the largest Hexagon. Cut 2 sets of hexagons from the Garden Green and Fresh Freesia patterned paper using the small, double hexagon die.

  • Cut Basic White hexagon from the 3rd from largest hexagon die. Stamp sentiment with Garden Green Ink masking to break up the words. Stamp the small patterned image around the sentiment with Fresh Freesia Ink. Adhere to large green patterned Hexagon.

  • Adhere the hexagons to card using Dimensionals. I trimmed about 1/8” off the small hexagon the sits at the bottom of the layer.

  • Tie bow with ribbon and adhere to card using a Glue Dot.

On the inside cut and adhere hexagons as shown below.

Sketch Saturday - Seas The Day

For this week’s sketch I used the Seas The Day Bundle along with Waves Of The Ocean Designer Series Paper and a layer embossed with the Splatter Embossing Folder. Lots of layers and textures.

The sketch is one I found on Pinterest from the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge from a few years ago. There are so many great sketches out there on Pinterest. It’s a great way to get ideas for cards.

The Seas The Day Bundle has wonderful images of sea creatures along with coordinating dies. The large die can be used to create a cool ocean scene.

Tips & Instructions

  • Night Of Navy Card Base - 4 1/4 x 11, score at 5 1/2 (top folding)

  • Basic White Layer - 5 1/2 x 3 1/4

  • Waves Of The Ocean Designer Series Paper Layer - 4 1/2 x 2, adhere to the white layer.

  • Balmy Blue Layer - 3 1/2 x 1 3/4, emboss using the Splatters Embossing Folder, adhere to layers.

  • Color piece of White Frayed Ribbon with a Dark Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends Marker and wrap around the layers, adhering to the back. Adhere layers to card base.

  • Basic White Square - 2 x 2, stamp sentiment with Night Of Navy Ink. Stamp bubbles, stamping off first to get a lighter shade. Adhere layer to card with Dimensionals - put Dimensionals across the top and bottom so they don’t sit on the ribbon.

  • Stamp jellyfish on scrap of Basic White Cardstock with Calypso Coral Ink and cut with coordinating die. Adhere to card with a Dimensional on the edge that doesn’t sit on the sentiment.

  • Add some Clear Epoxy Droplets.

On the inside layer stamp the sea plant using Pear Pizzazz Ink, stamping a second time without re-inking. Stamp fish with Calypso Coral Ink and some bubbles with Night Of Navy Ink.
