Torn Paper Technique

This is a really cool technique and it’s so easy to do. You can tear the white cardstock and have some patterned paper peek through or tear the patterned paper and have the sentiment peek through.

Watch the video to see how to make these cards. I’ll have the instructions below.

Tips & Instructions

  • Thick Basic White Card Base - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4

  • Blackberry Bliss Layer - 5 1/4 x 4

  • Basic White Layer - 5 x 3 3/4, tear middle of the layer to create the scroll. There is no measurement that I used. Tear off about half of the piece and then roll on something thin. I used a cotton swab. Remove the cotton swab and then add a little Liquid Glue to hold it in place.

  • Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper - 4 3/4 x 3 1/2 (you can cut it smaller if you want). Adhere behind the white layer, lining up the edge to the white edge.

  • Adhere layers to Blackberry Bliss Layer and then adhere to card base.

  • Stamp sentiment with Blackberry Bliss Ink on 5/8” strip of Basic White and punch each end with the Banners Pick A Punch. The sentiment is from the Beautifully Happy Sale-a-bration Stamp Set.

  • Punch both ends of a 3/4” strip of Blackberry Bliss and adhere to the stamped banner. Adhere to card using Dimensionals.

  • Add some Adhesive-Backed Milky Dots.

On the inside layer stamp the sentiment with Blackberry Bliss Ink and add a 5 1/4 x 3/4 strip of the Designer Series Paper. The sentiment is from the Sentimental Park Stamp Set.

I used the Regency Park 6x6 Designer Series Paper and cut it to 5 x 3 3/4. Tear and roll back and lay over a 5 1/4 x 4 piece of Basic White to get placement for the sentiment.

Tip - Use a smaller block to stamp so you don’t move the paper when you are stamping. The sentiment is from the Sentimental Park Stamp Set. The card base and ink is Night Of Navy and I added Night Of Navy Adhesive-Backed Milky Dots.

I didn’t add a sentiment to the inside layer and added a 5 1/4 x 3/4 strip of the Designer Series Paper.

The measurements and steps are the same for this as for the first card. I used the Regency Park 6x6 Designer Series Paper, Night Of Navy Cardstock and Ink. The sentiment is from the Sentimental Park Stamp Set. I used the Brushed Butterflies as my embellishment.

I’m so happy with how this turned out. The black bee against the Mango Melody Designer Series Paper really looks good. I’m not sure if you can see how pretty the bee is embossed.

On the inside layer stamp the sentiment and bee with Black Memento Ink and the greenery with Old Olive Ink. The stamps are from the Lighting The Way Stamp Set.

The new products (Queen Bee Bundle, Regency Park Designer Series Paper and Lighting The Way Stamp Set will be available for purchase starting January 5, 2023.

Below are the products I used from the current catalog.

Sketch Saturday - Peace To You

Here’s my card for this week’s sketch challenge using the Peace To You Stamp Set and the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper.

The sketch is from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. This was an easy one for me.

I really love this stamp set which is sadly on the Retiring List. The images are beautiful and so are the sentiments. I stamped the Nativity scene and cut it with a Layering Circle Die. The circle was a little bigger than the image so I colored the edges with a Stampin’ Write Marker.

Tips & Instructions

  • Thick Basic White Card Base -5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4

  • Sun Prints Designer Series Paper Layer - 5 1/4 x 4, adhere to card base.

  • Sun Prints Designer Series Paper Strip - 4 x 1, adhere to card.

  • Basic White - cut using the 3rd from largest scalloped Layering Circles Die.

  • Stamp Nativity scene on Basic White with Night Of Navy Ink and cut using the 4th from largest Layering Circles Die. There will be small white areas on each side that you can color with a Night Of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker.

  • Adhere the stamped circle to the scalloped circle. Adhere to card using Dimensionals.

  • Stamp sentiment on Basic White strip with Night Of Navy Ink. Cut apart and adhere to stamped image.

For the inside layer adhere a 5 1/4 x 4 piece of the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper. Stamp sentiment with Night Of Navy Ink on a piece of 5 x 3 3/4 Basic White and adhere to the inside.
