Sketch Saturday - Cottage Rose

I made this pretty birthday card for this week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. The Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper is one of my favorites so when I saw the sketch, I immediately thought of that paper.

Here’s the sketch that I used.

Tips & Instructions

  • Early Espresso Card Base - 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, score at 4 1/4

  • Basic White Layer - 5 1/4 x 4

  • Vellum Basics Specialty Designer Series Paper Layer - 5 1/4 x 4

  • Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper - 5 1/4 x 4, tear down along the side and adhere to vellum layer. Don’t adhere to the Basic White layer yet.

  • Petal Pink Strip - 4 x 3/4, adhere across the layer.

  • Stamp and cut 2 medium flowers and one small flower with Black Memento Ink. Color with Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends Markers. Adhere along the pink strip. I used Dimensionals for the small flower.

  • Stamp sentiment on 1/2” strip of of Basic White with Early Espresso Ink. Punch both ends with the Banners Pick A Punch. Adhere with Dimensionals.

  • Adhere the layer to Basic White layer putting adhesive behind the images and Designer Series Paper so the adhesive doesn’t show through the Vellum. Adhere layer to card base.

  • Add some Elegant Faceted Gems.

I’m hoping you can see the pretty pattern on the Velum in this picture. The Vellum Basics has 3 patterns, the one I used here with the leaves, a polka dot and a striped pattern.

On the inside layer I stamped the sentiment and flower with Early Espresso Ink. I stamped off the flower first (on a piece of scrap) to get a lighter shade.
